This Saturday, New Orleans will be celebrating some of the best of the best of our community at the annual Millennial Awards, “an awards show honoring the dynamic young professionals who contribute to the community through public service, make significant strides in business sectors, or serve as cultural ambassadors.”

Taking place at the People’s Health New Orleans Jazz Market (1436 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.), nominees will be competing in an array of award categories, including Digital Media (of which our founder, Jeff Gonzales, won at last year’s Millennials), Economic Development, Education, Fashion, Film, Financial Services, Healthcare, Hospitality, Innovation, Journalism, Law, Music, Real Estate, Social Entrepreneurs, Service Persons, Business, Culinary Arts, and Changemakers. In addition, several top restaurants will compete in the Restaurant Competition by creating a ‘millennial-inspired’ dish for attendees to vote on.

Who said there was nothing to do in New Orleans in the summer? Certainly not us nor local business Spears Group. If you remember, Spears Group has brought the immensely fabulous event Diner en Blanc to New Orleans and now the group is at it again with their fourth annual event, The Millennial Awards.

But who are the millennials and what are they doing that’s getting so much attention? To Spears Group President and CEO Cleveland Spears, III, the Millennials are “the generation of do-gooders” and their accomplishments and contributions to our community will be honored next month, July 16 at the People’s Health Jazz Market (1436 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.).

Although the term millennials has been around for few years, we are seeing it more and more. But who are the millennials and what are they doing that’s getting so much attention? To Spears Group President and CEO Cleveland Spears, III, the Millennials are “the generation of Do-Gooders” and their accomplishments and contributions to our community will be honored this weekend.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again…we LOVE The Munch Factory. Owned and operated by local New Orleanians Chef Jordan Ruiz and his wife, Alexis (and we can’t forget their son, Dominic), The Munch Factory has been taking over the stomachs of New Orleanians for the last three years.

Last month, the second annual Millennial Awards honored “the dynamic young professionals in the greater New Orleans area who have made significant contributions through public service.” New to this year’s awards was the Millennial Restaurant Destination award, where “ten top New Orleans restaurants created a ‘millennial-inspired dish’” and The Munch Factory came out on top with their braised short ribs over herb grits with bread pudding.
