If you haven’t realized that gardens and garden parties are where the love, laughs, and good times are with good food and great people, then maybe the New Orleans Museum of Art’s (NOMA) annual LOVE in the Garden fundraiser inside the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden in New Orleans City Park will convince you.

Now, we know you’ve been to City Park and NOMA a million and one times, but the Sculpture Garden seems to be a hidden treasure for many New Orleanians. Located next to NOMA, the Sculpture Garden is “home to over sixty sculptures from artists from all over the world set in a stunning environment of meandering footpaths.” From the moment you walk into the garden, you are transported into another world…a world of huge oak trees, bridges and water, and of course sculptures galore. THIS is the setting for the 13th annual LOVE in the Garden. Food, music, and a little love under the oaks, stars, and sculptures.

The New Orleans Museum of Art’s (NOMA) upcoming annual fundraiser, LOVE in the Garden, will be celebrating not only the visual and culinary arts this Friday, but also the art of cocktails with the LOVE Cocktail Challenge, featuring celebrated craft bartenders in pursuit of their most creative interpretations of LOVE!

With creations by Abigail Diedre Gullo of Compere Lapin, Paul Gustings of Broussard’s, Chris Hannah of French 75, Chris McMillian of Kingfish, T. Cole Newton of Twelve Mile Limit, Kimberly Patton-Bragg of Three Muses, Daniel Victory of Victory, and Steve Yamada of Latitude 29, you’ll be sipping on LOVE all night long!

Who doesn’t know the story of Romeo and Juliet? Boy meets girl and falls in love. Families hate each other, so too bad for them. Some people get killed because of big egos and things get ugly. Juliet fakes her death. Romeo kills himself thinking Juliet is dead. Juliet kills herself because Romeo is dead. The two families kiss and make up. The end…or something like that…

However your recollection of the story goes, Romeo and Juliet is undoubtedly one of Shakespeare’s most well-known plays. And lucky for us, after a wildly successful run last year, The NOLA Project, in partnership with the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), presents Romeo and Juliet in the fabulous Great Hall of NOMA this winter.
