Award-winning dance company ‘Good Dance Since 1984’ celebrates 5 years with anniversary concert, May 12-14

Written by  Good Dance Since 1984 & IntheNOLA.com
The award-winning dance company Good Dance Since 1984 will culminate their 5-year anniversary with its world premiere of “F.I.V.E,” a new work examining the behaviors, misunderstandings, and importance of predatory birds and mammals. This three-day electrifying performance of contemporary and classical dance and performance from some of the most talented performers in New Orleans takes place Friday, May 12 to Sunday, May 14 at Landry Walker High School (1200 L.B Landry Ave.) at 8:00pm with General Admission tickets at $25.00 and student tickets at $15 (must have valid ID).

For this very special occasion, Good Dance has mentored 15 pre-professional local dancers who will take the stage with the professional company as the new work sets the tone for an evening of spectacular movement, energy, and creativity. These supreme predators see what they want and they capture it: Create a dream, defy the odds, and capture your destiny.
Good Dance Since 1984 director/choreographer Donna Crump said, “The last five years have definitely been a journey for us. We have produced and performed in four original productions with F.I.V.E. being the fifth. We also regularly perform in festivals across the United States and we’ve won two Big Easy Awards!”

Donna continued, “Since January, Good Dance has been mentoring pre-professional dancers, 15 of whom you will see performing in F.I.V.E. We wanted to expose our training that we have gained over the years to the younger generation. Our pre-professional dancers are who will mold the future of dance in the community and around the world and we strive to create a more refined teaching curriculum for young dancers to experience. The world of dance is continuously evolving and looking at the youth and social issues continuously inspires us to create.”

She concluded, “I am definitely creating my legacy and hoping to inspire every person who crosses my path. In the future, Good Dance Since 1984 is looking forward to collaborating with new artists in other disciplines, like videography, visual art, lighting design, and more. We will begin producing a new work for next season as well as preparing to host our Annual Fall into Dance Fundraiser. For the fans, we will continue to entertain at the highest level and give every bit of our soul on stage as dancers and off stage as free-creatives and advocates for the arts!”
