Lions, tigers, and food…oh my! This past Friday, Audubon Zoo hosted its annual fundraiser, Whitney Zoo-to-Do
. Attendees were treated to food from some of the best restaurants in the city, including Antoine's
, and Oceana Grill
, whose chargrilled oysters were one of the highlights of the night.
If the food didn't thrill you, the musical acts were sure to please. No New Orleans party is complete without a brass band and we were greeted by the Kinfolk Brass Band
. The Family Stone
(including all original members) kept the party going inside the zoo, but the act that stole the show was Liquid Pleasure
(perhaps the greatest name ever) with songs from the Motown era to newer pops hits by the likes of Katy Perry.
If you weren't one of the thousands of party goers who dined and danced under the hundred year old trees that call the Audubon Zoo home, make sure you are there next year. There is something truly magical about attending a party "where they all ‘aksed’ for you.”
