Sippin' in Seersucker at The Shops at Canal Place

Written by  InthekNOwla.com

(InthekNOwla) -- | NEW ORLEANS | We are already looking for our seersucker for next year's Sippin' in Seersucker event benefiting the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Now, anyone living here has worn seersucker (men and women included) at some point in their lives and is considered to be the quintessential summer fashion. Seersucker comes in whatever you need: dresses, skirts, suits, ties, and even sunglasses!

At Sippin' in Seersucker, we were treated to some delicious hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants, Jazmine Cafe, Crescent City Brewhouse, and ZEA Rotisserie & Grill. And it wouldn't be a summer party without some refreshing mint juleps. Aside from the food and drink (the prerequisites of any New Orleans party of course), there was a seersucker contest, some great raffle prizes, and all around great company all of whom were strutting their stuff in all colors of seersucker.

Now, imagine the scene: men, women, and children in their summer best eating, drinking, talking, and shopping in Canal Place. Now, put Big Freddia, Katey Red, and Ms. Tee on a stage in Canal Place in front of Saks Fifth Avenue, BCBG MAXAZRIA, and Mignon Faget.
Interesting combination, huh? But lemme tell you, they brought the house DOWN!!! Seersucker or no seersucker...Canal Place was bumping!!! Big Freedia, Katey Red, and Ms. Tee are New Orleans Bounce superstars and truthfully, bounce fanatics and the majority of the people at Sippin' in Seersucker probably don't run in the same social circles. But there were none of those feelings; they had EVERYBODY dancing and running to get pictures and autographs when they had finished. What a way to bridge a seemingly unbridgeable gap!

So we definitely have to step up our game for next year's Sippin' in Seersucker...we trying to win that costume contest, ya heard me!
