LOVE in the Garden at the Sculpture Garden

NOMA Love in the Garden

(InthekNOwla) -- NEW ORLEANS | What’s better than LOVE? Maybe LOVE with good music, great food, fantastic people, and awesome surroundings. And of course we can’t forget LOVE is even better when you’re in New Orleans, one of the world’s most romantic cities.

Well, we sure had a lot of love this weekend at the LOVE in the Garden event in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden (a part of the New Orleans Museum of Art) in New Orleans City Park.  This year’s Love in the Garden honored several New Orleans’ artists, including Mignon FagetThomas Mann, and Peggy Bishop.

Imagine walking and seeing a giant safety pin, or a window hoisted in the air with a ladder except not attached to a house, or a man made out of the alphabet, or a horse made out of branches, or three huge men walking in unison…all the while eating some of the best cuisine New Orleans has to offer: Café Degas, Antoine’s Restaurant, Acme Oyster House, Ralph’s on the Park, P.F. Chang’s, and the list goes on and on.

And while we were eating and perusing, we couldn’t help but to dance a little to the sounds of the Alex Peters Band and the Animal Krackers Band underneath those gorgeous oak trees as we wound our way through more sculptures and strolled along the many bridges. We even got to see Robert Dula of NOLA Gondola rowing his beautiful gondola, Bella Mae, throughout the lagoon. What a beautiful and peaceful sight to behold under the stars in City Park.

Now, I bet you’re saying that all of this is sure to make anyone thirsty, and not thirsty for just any little thing. Well, have no fear, anything you could ever want to drink was just a step away, including the oh-so-sweet taste of Lemonade and Iced Tea by New Orleans’ own Southern Comfort…and you know it was a little warm outside making those drinks so much more delectable.

Even if you missed LOVE in the Garden, you can always check out The Sculpture Garden (free), the New Orleans Museum of Art (free for Louisiana residents every Wednesday), and City Park for some fun times. We can’t wait to get some more LOVE (in the Garden) next year!
