Zoo-To-Do for Kids at the Audubon Zoo

Written by  InthekNOwla.com Staff

(InthekNOwla) -- No matter how old you are, you will always have a good time at the zoo...from those big ole' elephants, to those sleepin' white tigers, and them howlin' monkeys. Well Friday night was a special night at the Audubon Zoo, their annual Zoo-To-Do for Kids presented by Humana. And let me tell you, we felt like kids all over again!

When we first walked in, we didn't realize the magnitude of it. We figured, "Ok, there will be a few little arts and crafts to do, some little finger foods to eat, a little music, and then time to go home." Boy, were we completely WRONG! There were spacewalks, face-painting, bubble blowing, jewerly making, dance contests, tree planting, live music, and a kids second line just to name a few. And if that wasn't enough for you, there was food for days...pizza from
Rotolo's Pizzeria, lemonade from Raising Cane's, cupcakes from Winn-Dixie, pulled pork sandwiches and corn pudding from Voodoo BBQ and Grill, ice cream from Creole Creamery...and this ain't even HALF of all the food! We were so stuffed, we could hardly make it back to the car! And the wonderful thing about all the featured vendors is that everything is donated of which the zoo gives them a "Zoopendous thanks."

The proceeds from this year's Zoo-To-Do for Kids will be used in the construction of "a wet and wild splash park" called the "Cool Zoo." In the Cool Zoo, people will be "surrounded by jumping water, a spider monkey soaker, water spitting snake statues and a giant alligator slide, just to name a few" (from Zoo-To-Do Events). Now, if you missed the Zoo-To-Do for Kids, there is an "adult"
Zoo-To-Do presented by Whitney this Friday, May 7 from 8:30pm - Midnight. Again, there will be tons of fun things to do, delicious food to eat, and fantastic live entertainment to dance to.

Be sure to be on the look out for next year's Zoo-To- Do for Kids. And don't worry, you don't have to have kids to go...InthekNOwla might have had a better time than the kids actually!
