Fidelity Bank launches competition to encourage teens to manage savings

Fidelity Bank is teaming up with the American Bankers Association to invite high school students to create an educational video about the importance of saving money and spending it wisely. The Lights, Camera, Save! competition aims to inspire teens to learn about the importance of saving money, using it wisely and investing in a college education.
What: The national contest is in its sixth year and encourages teens to produce and submit a creative video to Fidelity Bank, the only bank in the Southeast Louisiana participating in this national video competition. The bank will then chose a local winning video in late November and submit it to the national competition.
 
When: The contest runs from Oct. 1 – Nov. 18. Fidelity will announce its winner on Nov. 30. Fidelity will then submit the winner to the national competition in mid-December. Only one video per participant is allowed. The national winner will be chosen in mid-February.
 
Who wins? The top three national winners of the video contest will win big cash prizes of $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000 to fund their savings goal. Fidelity will also award three winners from Louisiana a cash prize of $1,000, $750 and $500.
 
National winning videos will be posted on YouTube and will become part of a national campaign aimed at teaching teens how to manage their money. Fidelity will post local winners’ videos on its YouTube channel as well as their other social media accounts.
 
“We are excited about teaching teens about the importance of saving money and spending it wisely and this contest will do that in a fun way for them,” Fidelity President and CEO Alton McCree said. “The information they learn in the process will help them develop lifelong lessons for their financial planning.”
 
Submission Requirements: The video must be no longer than 90 seconds. It cannot contain copyrighted material and must be the entrant’s original work. To see the official rules here.
 
Entrants must be legal residents of the United States or District of Columbia, live in the United States or the District of Columbia, and be 13-18 years of age as of October 1, 2016. The videos must be in English, no longer than 90 seconds and the entrant’s original work.
