Movin’ and shakin’ NOLA mamas: Tamica Lee of WWLTV and the New Orleans Saintsations

Written by
Mother’s Day might be over, but we’re not done celebrating our NOLA mamas. We’re celebrating those mama movers and shakers the whole month of May!
Tamica Lee, Hunter (13 years old), and Rani (6 years old)
Like the other NOLA mamas we’ve featured this month, Tamica is definitely a mover and a shaker! Traffic reporter for WWLTV, Appearance Team Director for the New Orleans Saintsations, advisory board member of Son of a Saint, and mom of two, Tamica has her hands full!
“My son Hunter is my quiet and humble basketball star, who’s also almost my height (5’11”) at 13 years old!” said Tamica. “Rani, my daughter, is my mini me! She’s funny and outgoing just like mom.”
She continued, “The most exciting thing about being a parent is seeing them succeed, whether that’s sports, tests, or life experiences. But the scariest thing is praying that you raised them right. I always say, ‘When you grow up, the rest of the world has to deal with you!’ So, I want to make sure that I raise confident, respectful adults.’”
Tamica and her family are “a foodie family,” and they love eating at the many delicious restaurants IntheNOLA. “We like doing a ‘tour of NOLA.’ We start around 4:00pm on a Saturday and eat appetizers at one place, dinner at another, and dessert at another. Mommy and daddy sneak in cocktails, of course! Other than eating, we also love to go to the zoo, the Children’s Museum, Sector 6, and City Park.”
As mamas and children grow together, it seems that some mamas will say to themselves, “Man, I’m becoming just like my mother everyday!” And Tamica can most certainly agree! “I am becoming just like my mother more and more everyday. It’s obviously frustrating and yet rewarding because I truly think she’s the best. I remember calling her up a couple years ago and just apologizing for always giving her a hard time. My new quote is: ‘If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you!’”
Tamica concluded with some advice for those future mamas. “Trust your God given motherly instinct,” she said emphatically. “It’s always right! Every mom does things her own way and each child is different. Your love will always exceed any advice anyone can give you as mom.”
