‘Running of the Santas’ spreads holiday joy while aiding military families, December 13

Written by  Running of the Santas
The streets of downtown New Orleans will glow with vibrant and colorful Christmas costumes on Saturday, December 13, when the Fourth Annual Running of the Santas strolls through the Big Easy. The Running of the Santas  is growing in popularity and creativity in New Orleans. This year event organizers expect to have more than 3,000 costumed participants draped as Santa, Mrs. Claus, Scrooge, Jingle Bells, Jack Frost, Old Man Winter and so many more.

The popular costume-inspired event kicks off at 3:00pm with live music all night long by Big Sam’s Funky Nation and Category 6. This year’s “South Pole” is at Barcadia New Orleans (601 Tchoupitoulas St.) where guests can enjoy great food, holiday drinks and special entertainment. The crowds then embark on a seven block “fun run” at 6:00pm to the “North Pole” at Generations Hall (310 Andrew Higgins Dr.).
Organizers of the holiday extravaganza are challenging participants to push their creative genius to the limit and think outside the box. The person who successfully achieves this will receive an award for the coveted “Best Holiday Costume.”

Tickets to the Running of the Santas are now available at www.runningofthesantas.com. General admission tickets are $15, and VIP tickets are $75 which include an open bar at Generations Hall from 6:30pm-10:00pm.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit That Others May Live Foundation. The foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2002. The foundation provides scholarships, family counseling, and aid to surviving children of United States Air Force (USAF) Rescue Heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice during a rescue mission. The goal of the program is to ensure that every child of a fallen personnel recovery service member receives an opportunity for success.

About Running of the Santas
Running of the Santas is the premier holiday season event which started in 1998 in the streets of downtown Philadelphia when 40 close friends decided to suit up in holiday decor and go bar hopping. More than a decade and a half later, the Running of the Santas event has grown across the world with more than 20 host cities from California to the shores of New Zealand.
