New Orleans Ballet Association announces registration for tuition-free after-school dance classes

Written by  New Orleans Ballet Association
The NORDC/NOBA Center For Dance, a cultural community partnership between the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) and the New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA), as well as other NOBA partner programs, are holding ongoing registrations beginning August 18 for 2014-2015 academic year after-school dance classes throughout the Greater New Orleans area. Registration will remain open on a first come, first served basis through September 20, or until classes are filled. Academic year classes begin the week of September 1, 2014.
This nationally award-winning program provides tuition-free technique classes in ballet, tap, modern, jazz and hip hop, as well as other styles of dance, for youth between the ages of 6 and 18 (Note: classes offered vary by location). All classes are approximately one hour, and students are placed in the appropriate class based on both age and experience level. Participants benefit from performance opportunities throughout the year, including fully produced and costumed performances of The Nutcracker Suite at Tulane University’s Dixon Hall on December 7, winter concerts at each community site, and spring productions. Students and families are also offered $5 tickets to attend select performances during NOBA’s Main Stage Season.
.
Interested students are required to submit the following items in person at the time of registration:
  1. Completed Enrollment Application (available at registration or download online)
  2. Copy of student’s birth certificate for ages 6-7 (Students must turn 6 years old by Monday, September 1, and be no older than 18 AND a senior in high school to enroll.)
