She continued, “The Director of the New Orleans chapter of the American Heart Association (AHA) asked Terrance and I to chair their Passion Committee and we wanted to do something that hadn’t been done before. So we decided to focus on some of AHA’s key issues: getting regular check-ups, eating clean, and exercising. Furthermore, rarely do we have specific tools to alleviate stress, which is a huge factor in heart disease, so how nice it would be to gain tools on cultivating a positive mental attitude from some of our most influential NOLA Leaders.”
Attendees of NOLA Gratitude Day “will celebrate life by hearing inspirational speakers discuss the balance of mind, body, and spirit and the effect it has on health.” Speakers include: Sunni Patterson (speaker and poet), Terrance Osborne (artist), Erin Romney (Romney Pilates), Karol Brandt (author), Deepak Saini (marketing filmmaker), Chef Ed Rhinehart (Seed), Jennifer Rogers (teacher), Brianna Williams (attorney and visionary), and Veronica Alweiss (psychologist and life coach). In addition, attendees will be able “to participate in a wellness fair offering health screenings and health information.”
For the first hour (1:00pm-2:00pm), “come out for the fair,” Stephanie added. “Massage Envy will have massage chairs and there will be tastings from Green Fork, heart screenings, authors, meditation tools, a gratitude wall, photo stop, and more. For the second hour (2:00pm-3:00pm), enjoy the short, inspirational talks by the aforementioned New Orleanians! We will also be raising money for the AHA and their programs benefitting the community by raffling off a framed and signed giclee of Terrance’s Speak NOLA painting, which is worth $8,000. Raffle tickets are only $25 and we will be doing a drawing at the end of the event.”
So with being one-half of this power couple, how exactly does Stephanie balance the hectic and crazy with the peace and gratefulness? “We both make genuine efforts to keep our house peaceful and our clients happy,” smiled Stephanie. “We try to go on weekly dates (bi-weekly when we’re super busy with work) and we also try to eat dinner as a family during the week. I also literally set time aside to meditate; it really contributes to an overall feeling of presence and well-being. For Terrance, he meditates whenever he’s doing his art. His headphones are on and he’s present. We call it being in ‘the zone.’”
